archivesTaking Responsibility Will Lower Crime RateWith the homicide rate at about 20 people for the new year, the news media asked Philadelphia Mayor Nutter what he was going to do about it. And yes, a city must take a stand against crimes committed within its borders. But doing something about killing is not the Mayor’s call. Doing something about murder comes back to personal responsibility. The man who shot up the car of teenagers must be held responsible. The teens had responsibility not to be out in a car, looking for a fight or whatever at 10:30 PM. Every parent has responsibility to know where their children are late at night. Parents have responsibility to make their sons and daughters do the right thing. Young men have responsibility not to start gun fights, rob a pizza man, sell drugs, or any other nonsense. It all comes down to responsibility, which people aren’t taking. People need to repent and accept the gospel of Jesus Christ. Lay down their guns, profane speech and deeds and obey the word of God (Titus 3:3-7; Acts 3:19). In order for murder to stop, men must stop sinning (Jonah 3:8). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. ( categories: Words of the Week )
