by Paul K.Williams (An imaginary story which could very well be true) The book of Revelation tells of how God sent plagues and other means of destruction on the world?over and over?in order to bring about repentance. We can be sure that God still wants the world to repent, and that He still uses such punishments.
Here is the story of the virus. God looked down and saw the self-satisfied population of the world, all interested only in their own comfort and pleasure and convinced that they had the solution to every problem which might happen on the earth. After all, they had sent a man to the moon! God decided that the world needed another great lesson. And He showed His power by using the smallest thing on earth?a tiny virus, smaller than a germ. And He sent it to a surprising place?China. A few people got sick, and some died. It wasn't much, but it grew until the outbreak was out of hand. Great worldwide publicity was given to the corona virus (COVID 19), and people began to panic. Governments closed their borders. Airlines could no longer fly to other countries. And many restrictions on the movements of their own citizens were imposed by country after country. But the virus continued to spread, and the panic grew greater. Countries went into lockdown, where people had to stay at home and, incidentally, businesses made terrible losses and were forced into bankruptcy. And oil became cheaper than water! But, just as we read in Revelation, the world did not get the message. Money is the answer, so the United States appropriates 2.2 trillion dollars which it does not have for the fight against the epidemic. And the pain, and the writhing, goes on. Will the world get the message? Not if the stories in the book of Revelation are anything to go by. Satan's hold on the minds of people is so strong that they look everywhere except to God for the blessings which they need. What will come? I expect hardship for me when churches in America are not able to send me money any more and my retirement investments turn out to be nearly worthless. I hope that all of the suffering will cause Christians to cling to their faith more than ever and understand that earthly riches are really worthless. What does it profit if we gain the whole world but lose our souls? |
