If you are a person who doesn't go to church, I ask you why? The church is the collection of the saved—the word in its original root is, “the called out,” meaning those taken from the darkness of sin and placed into the Kingdom of light (Colossians 1:13; Acts 2:47; John 10:9). Just like Noah and his family were saved from the flood by being insidethe ark, those in the church of Jesus will be saved from the damnation of Hell which is to come (Genesis 7:23; 1 Peter 3:20; Ephesians 5:23; Matthew 3:7; 1 Thessalonians 1:10; 2 Thess. 1:7–10; Mark 9:42–47). I hope to do one thing today, and that is get you to call 215-248-2026 and tell us why you don't go to church. And call also if you have been thinking about going to church. If no one is available, please leave a message, and we will get back with you as soon as possible. You may also e-mail us from our Web site as well, or you can just visit us during our worship times. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
Baptism is certainly nothing to be taken lightly, so we call attention to this vital subject. First of all, baptism isn't a matter of opinion. It is commanded (Matthew 28:19). Next we learn that baptism must be performed according to the name of the Lord (or by his authority) meaning that baptism must be done as God would have it (Acts 10:48, Colossians 3:17). Baptism requires much water because it is described as a burial or immersion, and sprinkling or pouring water isn't Bible baptism (Mark 7:7; John 3:24; Matt. 3:6, 16; Acts 8:38; Acts 10:37; Romans 6:3–4). If you want to be in Christ, you must be baptized as the Bible teaches, and Bible baptism puts a person into Christ (Galatians 3:27). A person must also be in the Lord's church in order to be saved from hell, and baptism is the final act which places a person inside the church (1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 5:23; Acts 2:47; John 10:9). Sin separates man from God, so it must be terminated, and that is the job of baptism (John 8:21; Isaiah 59:1–3). In Acts 2:38 we read that baptism is for the forgiveness (remission) of sins. Forgiveness is accomplished in baptism because baptism is the washing away of sins (Acts 22:16; Ephesians 5:25–27; Hebrews 10:22; Romans 6:1–18). If a person wants to be baptized that person must be a willing candidate—meaning the person to be baptized must believe on Christ (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:37–41; Acts 8:12; Acts 8:35–38; Acts 9:17–19; Acts 10:44–48; Acts 16:13–15; Acts 16:30–33). Therefore baptizing babies and anyone who doesn't believe is wrong. and last, but not least, baptism saves (1 Peter 3:21; Mark 16:16). This is because baptism is the final step that God has prescribed for man's walk toward salvation (Hebrews 5:9; 1 Peter 1:18–25). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. In Acts 10:25–26, we read, "And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him. But Peter took him up, saying stand up, I myself also am a man." Worshiping well known religious leaders is nothing new. Centuries ago, the man Cornelius thought he was to pay such honor to Peter. But no, that wouldn't be right; for Peter said that he was a man and he shouldn't be worshipped. If a person is a man, don't fall down at his feet and bow, don't kiss his ring, nor call him by God's name for he is a man (Matthew 23:7–10; Psalm 111:9; Ephesians 4:6). No Rabbi, Father, Master, Reverend etc. The men that people fall down before, praise and idolize, will die and stand before God just like everyone else, for there is nothing special about them, they are men (Romans 14:12; 1 Corinthians 4:6). During the times of the Old Testament, the people would create an object out of stone and then worship it. That is very dumb, huh? (1 Corinthians 12:2). Not much has changed today, for people create a man and worship him as well. The right thing is to only worship the Lord God Almighty (Matthew 4:10; Revelation 22:8–9; John 4:23–24). Putting 100 percent effort into relationships is the only way they will last; whether it be marriage, friendship, a job or whatever. In Romans 12:18, the Bible teaches "that if possible, exist in peace with all." Such a scripture affirms the reality of going the extra mile in order to co-exist with others and to make people around us better. In 1 Corinthians 9:19–22, the Bible speaks of the Apostle Paul's ability to work with others on their level and to do so very well. In Luke 22:32, Jesus told Peter, "strengthen thy brethren," which definitely means to make them better. That is how relationships work and last, the people in relationships must be concerned about the well being of the other people who are in the relationship too (John 8:29; John 15:14; 1 John 3:16–18; Hebrews 10:24; Heb. 12:12–16; Galatians 6:2; Ephesians 5:25; Titus 2:4–5; Heb. 13:17, Eph. 6:5–9). Take the Bible information and use it as you meet and form bonds with others. If something causes the relationship to go bad, don't let it be your fault and if you follow the word of God, it sure won't be. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. |
