In the Old Testament we read of generations that grew up and knew nothing about the Lord God of Israel (Judges 2:10). The tragedy occurred because the older generation forgot God and served idols and their offspring knew nothing but that way of evil (Psalms 106:6–48; Judges 3:7–8). We have the same problem today because this nation has gone far from the things of God; that is very evident by the attitude of disrespect that is held toward the Bible which is the word of God. There is a school district in the York area where there is a debate going on concerning evolution and creationism. The Bible plainly said that "God created all things, and He saw that it was all good," (Genesis 1:31). This statement isn't accepted because men don't believe it; they say such a thing cannot be. Therefore the children will not be taught how God with His great power formed all things and gave us all that we have today. Instead, they will be taught that there is no Supreme Being, and that all things happen by chance evolving though the centuries, and that man came from lower life forms. If you are a parent, it is best that you teach your children about God at home, and I mean train them well. Tell them that they will face the challenge in school of being told there is no God and that evolution is the way to go. The better our children are informed, the better they will be able to know what is error and what is truth (John 8:31–32; John 7:17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; Exodus 20:11; Psalm 14:1). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
Some people just don't know when to quit. They can be told "no" over and over and they still won't quit. These people seem to think that by persistence they can make another person do what they wish. Of course this will sometimes work, but still man is a free-moral agent capable of making his own decisions, and man should be able to do so without giving in to pesky behavior from other people (Judges 16:16–18). In 2 Samuel 2:17–32, we read of a battle in which two men, Abner and Asahel fought. Abner was on the losing side, and he and a few men began to retreat. Now Asahel wanted to be a hero and took it upon himself to chase after Abner in order to capture or kill him. Abner repeatedly told Asahel that the fighting was over and that he should just go home, but Asahel wouldn't listen. Being tired from the battle and irritated at Asahel's pesky behavior, Abner took his spear and plunged it into Asahel—running him clean through and killing him on the spot. Asahel should have listened and turned back. Let us all be reminded that we cannot make people do anything, and if they tell us to leave them alone, it is probably best to do so. According to the word of God, all prophets have departed from the earth, therefore no man can say what is on the mind of God, other than by what he can read in the Bible (Zachariah 13:1-6; Ephesians 4:11-15, 1 Corinthians 13:8; John 5:39, John 8:31-32). Now it is true that God has destroyed cities in olden times and it certainly wouldn't be a problem for him to do so today (Genesis 19:24-29; Luke 1:37). But the question is, "By what means do these preachers of today know that the storm of last week was sent especially to destroy the Gulf region?" The answer is no one knows, so let us just consider it a natural disaster and don't read anything else into it because natural disasters can happen at any time. Now is a very good time for all to step up to the plate and figure out what can be done to help the people of the region and leave the announcements of doom to God. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
A warning is a message given in order for people to hear and take action because the message is grave (Ezekiel 3:16–21; Eze. 33:1–9; Acts 20:31; Matthew 2:12, 22). However, people have the habit of hearing warnings but taking no action, so consider this: "You've got to get out of this town because a storm is coming and it is a big storm!" "No, I'm not leaving. I will sit the storm out on my boat or in my house!" or "You've got to leave from here because this place isn't fit to live in—it is unsanitary. "No, I will not leave from here—this is my house and I'll stay right here. or "You need to repent of your sins because you will burn in hell if you don't!" "No, I love my sins and I will live my life as I want to live it!" or "The Bible has proven that your church is wrong—you've got to get out of that church!" "No, I will never leave my church!" Man needs to give more honest heed to the warnings he hears (Hebrews 2:1–4). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
I have a hard time understanding why some people get so bent out of shape when we invite them to church. Going to church isn't a bad thing, yet some huff and puff and act like a bottle of skunk musk has been sprayed on them. There are far more grave matters that should spark our anger (like the soldiers getting killed in Iraq) and here are these people blowing a fuse because someone pointed out their need for Christ. Wow! Such conduct just proves how selfish, evil, apathic, and materialistic a lot of people are. Be assured of this: man can either worship God now or bow before Him on Judgment Day and then be sent to hell for refusing to acknowledge Him while in this life. The choice is left up to man, but God will be the one to have the last say (2 Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:9–12; Matthew 25:1–46; Hebrews 4:13; Ecclesiastes 12:13–14). Do you attend a church that has two or more collections; that ask for money from the visitors and also tithe? The Bible teaches that the church is to obtain its funds though the members' giving once on the first day of the week (1 Corinthians 16:1–4). There may be visitors in attendance, but it is made known that they are under no obligation to put anything into the basket because they aren't members of that local church. If visitors do put money into the basket, it will be because they choose to do so, not because the church expected such. Tithing, or giving a tenth, was a command God gave to the Israelites (Leviticus 27:30–34; Malachi 3:6–12). Such isn't to be taught as a command today because the Old Testament was replaced by the New Testament when Jesus died on the cross (Hebrews 7:19–22; Heb. 8:6–13; Heb. 9:11–28; Heb. 10:1–20; Colossians 2:14; Matthew 26:28; 2 Cor. 3:6–17). In 1 Corinthians 11:15, we learn that the long hair of a woman is given as her glory. Some preachers teach that it is a sin for a woman to cut her hair; but that isn't what the bible said. A woman is free to cut her hair and fix it up as she chooses. The only thing she shouldn't do is cut and fix it in such a way that the glory departs. Now one may wonder, "how is that possible?" Well, the best way I can explain it is like this; if a woman cuts or wears her hair in such a way that it becomes difficult to figure out the sex; then glory is gone. Long hair isn't so much defined by the inches, but rather by the fact that the female hair displays who she is. Some women cannot grow hair that reaches down to the shoulders, yet they keep their hair in such a way that female glory is still intact. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. We are all “God's Children” in the sense that we are His creation (Genesis 1:26-27; Acts 17:24-28; Hebrews 12:9). On another note, we are all “God's children” in the sense that we have a relationship with Him because we obey His word and live by His commandments daily (Matthew 5:9, Luke 20:35-36; Romans 9:25-26; Galatians 3:26-29; Ephesians 1:4-5; Hebrews 2:13, John 15:14; John 11:52; Eph. 5:1-6). But in no way are we “children of God” in every sense. If we aren't living in accordance with the law of God, we are not His children; instead, we are the “children of Satan,” (Eph. 2:2-3; 1 John 3:8-10; John 8:39-44). Those who are living in violation of the word of God are in sin; and by dwelling in sin, there can be no fellowship with God (2 John 9; Isaiah 59:1-14). Seems like every so often we hear someone say, “we are all God's children.” Well in the creation sense we sure are, but not in the spiritual sense. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Some marriages are great and some aren't. Some people are working daily to improve their marriages and some people aren't doing anything. Some people have ended their marriages and others would never dream of doing such without God's authority. You see, the Lord doesn't accept “irreconcilable differences” as a reason to file for divorce. Satan has invented many things and the term “irreconcilable differences” is his handy work (2 Corinthians 2:11). Problems in marriage must be expected and those problems must be worked out because failure to do so isn't an option. God has said that adultery on the part of one partner gives the faithful partner the right to divorce the offender (Matthew 5:31–32; Mark 10:11–12; Luke 16:18; Romans 7:1–4; Matt. 19:1–9). So the faithful spouse can put the offender away or keep the cheating offender, the choice is left up to him or her. People must enter marriage resolved to solve problems and determined to remain unto death. Hope'to hear from you or see you at the services. America to Almighty God in Heaven, we have a message for you. “We don't want you trying to tell us how to live with that Bible, it's our lives and we'll live them as we want. We are sick and tired of hearing about Jesus, and we don't give a hoot about Him dying for our sins. We don't want your gift of marriage; we would rather shack up. We don't want the opposite sex you created, we want same sex for companionship.” “Don't have Christians telling us we need to go to church, we will make our own way in life. And that book the Bible—you can have it back, we've got our own books: the Koran, the book of Morman, and other books that men have written. etc. Good morals, who needs them? We want fornication, drunkness, smoking, drugs, and just getting wildand having a good time! Men want bad girls and women want bad boys, because good boys and good girls are no fun. In closing we would like you to grant us one last request oh Lord. 'Bless America our home sweet home.'” Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. |
