This world is morally falling apart right before our eyes (2 Timothy 3:13). Most people are doing what they want to do and could care less about the authority that comes from the word of God (2 Tim. 3:1-4). From the President of the United States right down to the regular Joe, people are saying what they think(Proverbs 14:12; Jeremiah 16:12).
But you know what? We at the Mt. Airy church of Christ will continue to stand up and teach the word of God (2 Tim. 4:2-4). You won’t hear us saying what we think or what we feel because we are going to give it to you straight from the book and if the book doesn’t authorize it, we won’t teach it (1 Peter 4:11; 1 Tim. 4:16, 6:3-4). Men and the world will pass away, but he who stands on the word of God lasts forever (1 John 2:17). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This quote came from the Tonight Show host, Jay Leno, which he told as a joke. However, it makes a great point.
“With hurricanes, tornados, and fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up this country up from one end to another and also with the threat of swine flu along with possible terrorist attacks. Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?” (end of joke). Psalm 33:12: Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Many homes are crumbling across our land because spouses do not spend enough time together. Between working two or three jobs, keeping children engaged in school, sports and other activities, plus having different interests, they don’t even spend much time in the same room. So that makes a couple more like roommates than spouses. However, God’s word instructs husband’s and wives to enjoy each others company, which means they must set time aside to build on their marriage (Proverbs 5:15-19; Ecclessiastes 9:9).
One has said, “marriage is given not that men and women should do one thing together, but that they should do all things together; because marriage is the total union of the two personalities” (Allen Webster). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. |
