Thomas asked Scott why he doesn’t use profane language, to which Scott replied; “it costs more then I can afford.” Now maybe you are puzzled by all of this, so allow me to explain what Scott meant.
Scott had some knowledge of the word of God, and he knew that words aren’t free. Like a credit card, man’s use of them will have to be paid one day. Jesus Christ said, “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment, For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned” (Matthew 12:36-37; Jude 14-15).
Scott doesn’t use profanity because he doesn’t want to answer to the Lord on Judgment Day and have those words condemn his soul to a burning Hell.
Next time you hear someone use an obscenity, be sure to remember what you have learned today. Can that person afford what they just said?
Hope you don’t forget this message.
