Imagine a Caribbean resort with beautiful palm trees and other tropical vegetation. A turquoise blue ocean with a state-of-the-art hotel for guests.  Sounds like the perfect paradise, doesn’t it?  We have seen tv and magazine pictures displaying such vacations and all we say is, “I wish I was there.”

My point of consideration is we all know how beautiful a tropical island is; but heaven is even better. It is more beautiful than a tropical island;10 times, 1000 times better.

The things we see in this life are inferior to what awaits the righteous in the next life. I say, give up on making this life your main goal.  Dream big, obey the gospel of Jesus Christ, so you can be in a place for eternity that is more beautiful than any tropical island.

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is your acceptable duty in the Lord. And fathers, do not provoke your children, or they may lose heart. Col 3.20-21
 
There are two jobs mention in this scripture. First, children need to give honor to their parents, who brought them into this world and has been providing care. Respect them by following their instruction as they give that information from the word of the Lord. Don’t claim parents don’t know what they are talking about. Parents have walked the steps that sons and daughters are currently beginning and for that reason, they are due respect.
 
And parents, don’t be slave drivers. Your children are only capable of so much and you need to know their limits and be patient with them. Otherwise, you will create stress, resentment and low self-esteem which will do nothing to improve children.

People get mad with their spouses and file for divorce.This is done because the one filing the divorce thinks they have the right to do so. Pro 14.12.
 
Now allow me to give a thought to you.A person cannot get a divorce without consulting God. Yes, you hear me right. One must have the permission of the Lord in order to file for divorce. For example, a person cannot get married without having God present. That is true because it is God that joins a man and woman in marriage; and it is God, who warns that man must not sever what He has joined. Matt 19.6
 
 
Jesus taught that divorce is permissible if one of the spouses has committed adultery. Though it’s not commanded to divorce, the innocent party has the right to consider it. Matt 19.9. But maybe that won't happen, because the innocent person decides to forgive and give the offender another chance and that would be perfectly alright.
 
Bottom line is, we must consult with the word of the Lord before doing anything. The Bible clearly has said that it assent in man to direct his own steps. Jer 10.23-24.
