The bible is indeed a very old book. It is old fashion and out of date with what people are doing today. Yes, that we will admit because people today are a law unto themselves, they do what they want. Judges 21.25 We don’t agree with how people live because most people aren’t living according to the instructions taught in the bible. But the Lord has left it up to every person to make their own decision as to how they will live.Thing is, in the end the bible will be the standard by which men will be judged. Rev 20.12. The lives of men will be examined to see if their deeds match what is taught in the scripture. And if that isn’t the case, those souls will be casted into hell. Rev 20.13-15. Now a person may laugh at this, but it is the truth. The bible may be old, but it is the word of God and that word is eternal and will be here when the earth is gone. Matt 24.35. We don’t agree with how people live because most people aren’t living according to the instructions taught in the bible. Matt 24.35. Psa 119.89.152. 1 Peter 1.22-25. So, the best thing for anyone is to forget how old the bible is and just obey it and save your soul. Matt 7.21-27. We won’t make heaven by doing what we want. We must do what God wants. When a bottle of liquid has a skull and cross bones on it, one should
be smart enough not to drink it. If one notices the sign “slippery when wet,” one should be smart enough not to speed that way. If the shark tank has “no hands allowed,” one should be smart enough not to put a hand in there. The point of all this is, we wish that people would learn without having to suffer the consequences of being hardheaded. A man may know the risk of picking up hookers, but not learn his lesson until he is arrested, or is a victim of a transmitted sexual disease. Pro 5:11-13. If the word is out “ Don’t send text messages while driving,” man should learn from those words, and not from having an accident. In Luke 15:11-32, we read of a young man who demanded his inheritance and wasted it after moving far away. This young guy didn’t listen to anything until he was broke, alone, and sitting among the pigs and desiring the slop they ate. Likewise the word of the Lord warns men, but are we listening? Pro 1:20-33. Pro 22:3. If you find yourself thinking evil, slap yourself; nothing is better than a real good stop.
if you concentrate about evil, the next thing is to make it take form. The Bible teaches, ‘as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Pro 23.7 The action of thinking is what creates the deed. We have to realize that when we dwell on something, we most likely will follow it up with an action. To avoid these types of bad scenarios, we need to train our minds to focus on things that are good and honorable; things that we don't mind sharing with others and not things we have to hide from others. I think that will be a great help as we live. Do more to think on things that are trustworthy, things that honest, beautiful, things you wouldn't mind sharing with others for their good. Phil 4.8 In John 21.18-19, Jesus told Peter that he was going to die the death of a martyr for the cause of the gospel. Peter had earlier said that he would die for Jesus; but Jesus informed him that he wasn't ready and that he would three times deny that he didn’t know him. John 13.36-38.
After Jesus resurrection and Peter's reinstatement toward the Lord. Jesus expected Peter to make good on that claim to die for Him. This is why people should be careful what they say, because one may have to live what they have said. Eccl 5.1-7. So, Peter said that he would die for the Lord and now he's going to be given an opportunity to do so. 2 Peter 1.13-15. |
