A speaker on his tv program said, “I’m a pit bull preacher”! Last time I looked a pit bull, is a dog prone to aggressive behavior. Is this preacher saying he will bite someone? That would be like me saying, I’m a preaching snake! That would not be good. No teacher should be saying he is rough and ready to claw and bite into people. Not the character God wants in His messengers. God does want preachers to be firm and present His word in a strong and polite way; but they cannot be rude and insulting and expect people to listen and be converted by their teaching. A pit bull preacher will most certainly turn men off. Listen to Paul’s words about how to teach. But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will” 2 Timothy 2:23-26 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Col 4.6
