“Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to praise those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing right you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.”2 Peter 2.13-15
We can see that it is the intent of the Lord, for his people to have law abiding lives, so they don’t bring the wrath of the state upon them. The wrath of the state is to be felt by law breakers. These people must understand that if wrong is done, somebody must pay. Col 3.25. The power of the government to punish the evildoer is real. Rom 13.3-5.

A person who has done a good job immersing himself in the word of God, won’t be miserable. The reason is he looks to the Lord for guidance. I watched a TV program with characters who were pretty much whacked out on everything. They don't know to go right or left, up or down, and they spend a large amount of time just going in circles and making all kinds of mistakes. In real life the one who puts his trust in the Lord will not have to undergo any of that because he will have a higher power guiding him. If you want to live in a way that you don't be miserable; spend time with the word of God.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anoints my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psa 23.1-6 During world war II, a soldier in the south Pacific was shot down by enemy planes but was able to swim to the nearest island. Once arriving there, he was in total shock to find that the natives welcomed him and showed him great kindness. After being there for two days, he was invited to the home of the high chief for dinner. When the chief gave thanks for the meal and quoted some bible verses, the soldier cursed and told everyone at the table that he didn’t believe in the bible!
The chief looked at the man and said, for your sake, you better be thankful that we believed when evangelists came here and taught us about it being the word of God. Because if we haven’t, you would have been cooked for our dinner the first night you landed here. The bible is the word of God, and it will change lives for the better if people will accept it. We urge all to do so and allow it to lead you from the darkness to the wonderful light. Psa 119.105. Psa 19.7. Throughout the city of Philadelphia there are vacant church buildings.
I mean huge structures which are the ghosts of past beliefs when people believed in going to church and thought there had to be a magnificent temple to meet in. That time is past and most people have no use for church at all. Even if you see a huge building, there is probably not much membership; so those big structures are either torn down, turned into apartments or some other type of use. It’s shameful so much money has been put into buildings only for them to become abandon and fall into the need for repair because no one is concern anymore. God never wanted a huge building even during King David and Solomon; for it was men who thought that they should build temples. 2 Sam 7.1-17. God can be worshipped anywhere, under a tree in a park, in your backyard, in your basement, in a hotel conference room, etc. All that will be needed is for two or three to come together in Jesus name and worship him in spirit and in truth. Matt 18.20. John 4.24. While big buildings are beautiful, they aren’t a necessity; so let’s not get wrapped up into big, magnificent buildings. Matt 6.19-21 |
