A person who has done a good job immersing himself in the word of God, won’t be miserable. The reason is he looks to the Lord for guidance. I watched a TV program with characters who were pretty much whacked out on everything. They don't know to go right or left, up or down, and they spend a large amount of time just going in circles and making all kinds of mistakes. In real life the one who puts his trust in the Lord will not have to undergo any of that because he will have a higher power guiding him. If you want to live in a way that you don't be miserable; spend time with the word of God.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anoints my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psa 23.1-6
