As another year comes to a close, three things are apparent:
Yet, man has reason to rejoice and that reason is life itself (Ecclesiastes 9:4). Man needs to be thankful and work to have a relationship with God, because only in life is that possible (John 8:20-24). Our relationship with God doesn’t happen by itself. Man must seek God and obey Him (John 6:45; Rom. 10:8-18; Heb. 5:9). Consider the words of Acts 17:26-28, “And he made from one, every nation of men to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after him and find him. Yet he is not far from each one of us.” Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Next Sunday will be “Christmas morning”, but we won’t be at home opening gifts from under a tree. Sure the holiday falls on Sunday, but we shall be at the services of the church—worshipping God (John 4:24; Matthew 4:10).
“But’s it’s Christmas,” someone may say.” “Yes it is”, will be our reply. However, God told man to seek Him first and all other things will be added (Matthew 6:33-34). So, God willing, we shall worship first and take care of the holiday second (Proverbs 3:9-10; Luke 10:27; John 4:24; Matt. 4:10). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Purposely being shot in the heart by your best friend. Having your mother steal your wallet. Being attacked by the one who is to protect you. All these shocking actions are “Betrayal.” In Matthew 26:21 Jesus said, “one of you will betray me” these chilling words sent shock waves though the hearts of the disciples.
If you really want to hurt someone beyond repair, just betray them. Once betrayed, a person is harder to win back then a conquered city. The lesson in all this is, don’t betray anyone. Trust is a hard thing to build up, it may take years to do so, and one evil act like betrayal can destroy it in a second. Imagine the shock on the face of the one that is betrayed—the unbelieving stare, the tears, the question: “Why? Why? I thought you were my friend?” Don’t do this evil deed to anyone! If you have people’s trust, keep it, don’t betray that trust! Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Someone will say, “I won’t go to that church because they are small and meet in a small building.”What would that person say, if someone from a bigger church with a bigger building, said the same to them. A person from a 100-member church may not want to visit a church with only 35 members, and that is wrong. But at the same time, what would that person do, if a person from a 500-member church looked down on their church with only 100 members?
Churches should not be chosen because of where they meet and how many people go there. Churches should be chosen because they teach and live the truth (2 Timothy 4:1-5). Keep in mind that Noah had only eight people in the Ark and everyone else drowned (2 Peter 2:4-5). Jesus said two or three meeting in his name will be acceptable (Matthew 18:20). Jesus also said that the road to Hell will be travelled by many (Matt. 7:13-15). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Both the Michael Jackson trial and the problems at Penn State taught valuable lessons, so listen to this. Avoid addiction to drugs, drinking, smoking, eating, prescription pills, etc. etc. (1 Corinthians 6:12, 9:27). Don’t desire money to the point of being unethical (1 Timothy 6:6-10; Proverbs 15:27; 2 Cor. 8:21). Say no, when asked to assist in wrong doing (1 Tim. 5:22).
If you see someone attacking a helpless soul, do something to stop the attack or call authorities (1 Thessalonians 5:14-15). Don’t place a friend above what is right (James 4:4; Galatians 4:16). Doing things not appropriate is always forbidden (Colossians 4:5). Don’t be a part of any group that has a code of silence protecting themselves and caring nothing for the helpless and innocent (Prov. 6:16-17). Make sure that when you do something that you do all you can and leave nothing undone (Matthew 27:65; Acts 20:26-27). The bigger they are, the harder they fall, and great will be that fall (Psalm 38:35-36; Matt. 7:26-27; Gal. 6:7-8; Prov. 26:27). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Proverbs 15:3 “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”
Jeremiah 16:17 “For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.” Galatians 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap.” People do what they wish because they think no one will ever know or that they will never get caught. Well, I’ve got news for those people. Just take a look what has happened to people. I mean the people we have seen exposed before the eyes of the world—everyone knowing about their dirty deeds (2 Samuel 12:11-13). So you see, no deed goes undetected because God will not allow that to happen. So when one person is exposed, that is a wake up call for others who are doing the same dirty deed to repent (Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30; John 8:10-11; Jude 7; Prov. 28:13). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. The person you hurt is somebody’s loved one. If you cannot do things to help that person, do nothing to harm them (Galatians 6:10; Hebrews 13:16; Philippians 2:3-4). They are loved and the hurt imposed upon them will effect wives, husbands, a son or daughter, brother, sister, friend, etc. (Esther 3:13-15; 2 Samuel 13:10-29). Many don’t think about the consequences of their actions and some don’t even care. These evil doers cause much harm creating a life time of pain and grief.
So think before acting. Think about what you are doing before you get angry and hit someone. Or drive a car drunk, texting or sleepy. Think about what you are doing before you pull a gun on a person, stab them or steal from them. Just think, that is why you have a brain. If the person is someone’s spouse, think before you try to have an affair. And after thinking, don’t do it! It is wrong, and you will not be helping mankind, but you will be bringing down mankind (Proverbs 14:34). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. According to the Bible, a person is damned when he is without redemption—heading toward the eternal flames of Hell (Mark 16:16; Galatians 1:8-9; 1 Corinthians 16:22; John 8:21; 2 Cor. 4:3-4; Romans 1:18-32; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; Matthew 25:41, 23:33; Mark 3:29; 2 Peter 2:3). Now, God is the Creator, the Father, and Supreme One, and He cannot be damned (1 Timothy 6:16; James 1:17; Revelation 22:5; 1 John 1:5).
So, why do men use His name in a profane way by adding it to the word “damn”? That is not only taking Jehovah’s name in vain, but it’s also blasphemous! (2 Peter 2:9-18; Jude 8; Acts 13:45; Rom. 2:24; Psalm 74:10-18; 2 Tim. 3:2; James 2:7). So, what is a person to do? Stop using God’s name with the word “damn!” Being damned is certainly true, but be assured, God isn’t a part of it. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Halloween is here, and for those who believe Ghosts haunt the earth, their belief will become more intense. But such ought not be the case—it’s just another holiday where people dress in costumes and give candy. However, man needs guidance, something to show him direction and shine light on the issues with which he is confronted. So that is where the Bible helps, and people can better themselves by having faith in the word (Hebrews 11:6; Psalm 19:8-10; Mark 9:21-23; Psa. 119:105).
The scriptures are God’s speech to man, and He teaches that the dead don’t spook the living (2 Timothy 3:14-17; Ecclesiastes 9:4-6,10; Job 7:1-10, 10:18-22; Psa. 103:13-16; 2 Samuel 12:22-23). At death the spirit of man is removed from earth and taken to Hades to await Judgement (James 2:26; Heb. 9:27; Psa. 90:10; Luke 24:5; Luke 22:42-43; Acts 2:29-32; Luke 16:19-31). Ignorance of what the Bible teaches has lead many to believe things, and a highly creative imagination has cause many to think they hear and see things (Acts 17:22-27). But if one believes the word of the Lord, he will be secure (Proverbs 1:29-33; Psa. 34:10; 1 Peter 2:2-6). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. The earth won’t be destroyed by countries firing nuclear bombs at each other. Nor will it be destroyed by the pollution of the ozone to the point that all life suffocates. The earth will be destroyed by God who is the Creator (Genesis 1:1). That will occur on the day of Judgment when God will destroy this earth with fire (2 Peter 3:9-13; 1 John 2:17; Mark 13:31).
The Judgment Day is unknown to men, but it will be the day all men stand before God and answer for the deeds of their life (Matthew 25:31-46; Acts 17:30-31; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Acts 1:11; Revelation 1:7; John 12:48; Ecclesiastes 12:14). The reason man cannot destroy the earth is because God said he would be the one who does and the Lord doesn’t lie (Hebrews 6:18). Another reason man cannot destroy the world is because God has structured the earth so that it cannot be undone by man (Jeremiah 32:27; Luke 1:37; Hebrews 1:10-12; Psalm 104:5; Eccl. 1:4). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. |
