No one can claim a pay check without doing something to earn it. In other words, one must do some kind of work for the pay. This fact, everyone knows and agrees with. Well, I would like to use this same point to teach a lesson about going to heaven. You see, entrance into heaven is a reward which Jesus Christ will issue to those who have been faithful (Revelation 2:10).
Many people think they will go to heaven simply because they believe that they will, but that will not be the case (Luke 13:22-28). The word of God teaches that most people will be going to hell and the reason is their failure to obey the instructions that the word of God teaches (Matthew 7:21-23, 25:41-46). So yes, entrance into heaven requires obedience to the scriptures (Hebrews 5:9). Man must learn the word of the Lord so that he can understand what is required of him (Acts 10:22). The New Testament is the part of the Bible for which Christ died on the cross, and it is that part of the Bible which serves as rule for us (Matt. 26:28; 2 Corinthians 3:6; Hebrews 7:22, 9:15, 10:9-10). Start with the book of Matthew and read the Gospels which teach the life of Christ and His purpose on Earth. Read the book of Acts which identifies the church which Jesus established and how men became members. Next the epistles (1 Corinthians-3 John) which give information about the church and how we should live. The last book is Revelation which teaches the persecution of the church at the hands of the Roman Empire and how the Christians gain the reward (Rev 2:7). So if no faithfulness, no wonderful pay check; just the bad one, “hell” (Psalm 9:17; 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Does God matter? Some behave as though He does not—living their own way. They curse, drink, gossip, lie, cheat, steal, or commit fornication. To them, God does not matter. However, logic and the Bible, teaches God does matter.
God matters because He is the Creator. He made all things BY His Son (Genesis 1:1; John. 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16-17). Being Creator, He is superior to man (Gen. 1:26-27). He gave man life, breath and everything (Acts 17:25). He is not only the giver of life, but sustainer as well (Hebrews 1:2; Acts 14:17). God matters because He is the Judge. God is the giver of the law of Christ (John 16:7-15). All men will stand before God and be judged by Jesus Christ according to His law (2 Corinthians 5:10; John 5:22; John 12:48). God matters because He is God. The very nature of God demands the conclusion that He is relevant. God is the Almighty (Genesis 17:1). He knows all things and with Him all things are possible (Psalm 139:7-12; Heb. 4:13; Mark 14:36). He is self-existent and eternal (Exodus 3:14; Psalm 90:2). The President of the United States matters because He is the president. The CEO of a company matters to people in the company because he is the CEO. The God of the universe matters because He is God. Directions to Jesus' house are as follows. Go through the green light which is Christ and keep straight (John 14:6; 2 Corinthians 1:20). Make a right turn on Believeth Blvd merging onto Penitence Parkway and ford Baptism River (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38). Next turn onto the Bridge of Faith which is over trouble water (Matthew 4:1-11). When you get off the bridge make a right and keep straight on Kings Highway toward Heaven (Hebrews 10:23; 1 Peter 1:4).
Keep going for three miles; one for the Father, one for the Son, and one for the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14). Then exit onto Grace Blvd (Ephesians 2:8). From there make a right on Gospel Lane (1 Cor. 15:1-3). Keep straight avoiding ditches and make a right on Prayer Ave (Matt. 15:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:17). As you go, don’t yield to the traffic on Tempation Blvd (James 1:12; 1 Cor. 10:13). Make sure you avoid Sin Street for it is a dead end (Romans 3:23; Proverbs 13:15). Also pass up Envy Dr and Hate Way (Galatians 5:19-21). Next bypass Hypocrisy St, Gossip LN and Backbiting Blvd (James 3:1-6). Then you have to go down Longsuffering LN, Persection Blvd and Tribulations St. (Job 14:1). But that’s alright, because Victory Blvd is right in front of you (1 John 5:4; John 14:3). (By Josh Allen Morriston) Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Recently, it was said that a percentage of Americans are changing from the religion of their childhood. Well, that can be a good thing or it can be a bad thing.
For example, the Bible teaches that Jesus built one church (Matthew 16:18). Also the Bible warns of the existence of false doctrine (2 Peter 2:1-2; Colossians 2:8:18). Now consider this, if one is a member of a church that the Lord didn’t establish, that person is in false teaching (Mark 7:7; Matt. 15:13-14; 2 John 7-11). In order to be saved, one must leave error behind and that is a good thing. But on the other hand, if one is in a church where the truth is taught, and he leaves that church after falling victim to false teaching; that is bad (2 Peter 3:14-18). Since it is possible to be wrong, one shouldn’t leave a church unless that church is proven by the word of God to be in error (Acts 18:24-28, 19:1-5). |
