In the book of Luke 14:16-24, we read of a great supper being prepared and the host sending invitations to many, requesting their presence at the magnificent feast. Rather than accept, these people began to make excuses as to why they couldn't come. One spoke of his real estate that he had to check on, another about testing his livestock, etc. As a result of their apathy, these people missed out on a special treat—feasting on fine food with this host would have been the best meal they could have ever gotten.
In Matthew 11:28–30, we read of Jesus offering to give rest to all who are weak, tired and heavily burdened, for he wishes to help men with the trials and tribulations of life. The invitation is open to all who are willing to open their hearts and learn of him (Revelation 3:20).
"So what's your excuse?" Why won't you obey the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ? Do you have real estate to check on? Do you have to go and check on your horses? Are you a newly wed and have no time for Jesus right now? Again, I ask: "What's your excuse?"
Hope to hear from you or to see you at the services.
