It is a fact that God never sanctioned the marriage of two females to one another or two males to one another. Jesus never gave his endorsement to such an arrangement. The Holy Spirit never revealed a plan that he received from the mind of God that allows same sex marriages! If a practice or doctrine does not have God’s sanction, Jesus endorsement, and is not a part of the Holy Spirit revelation, it cannot be right (Colossians 3:17; John 12:48, 16:12-13).
We live in a day when most people are determined to justify whatever feels right to them. They do not acknowledge the Bible as God’s authoritative word, and as the result they do not study it in order to determine what is acceptable or unacceptable to God. They believe the Bible is designed to change with the times. But sacred scripture is from God (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21). And is therefore authoritative (John 10:35, 1 Corinthians 14:37), and it does not change with the times (Matthew 24:35; 1 Pet. 1:23-25). Our point is, whatever God’s word taught about marriage when it was revealed remains unchanged unless God himself changes it. God has not changed His will concerning those whom he joins in marriage. Jesus was addressing a question asked by the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?” Jesus directs them back to God’s original plan. He said, “have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said ‘for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh.’ What therefore God has joined together, let human beings not separate,” (Matt. 19:4-6) It is clear that God made “male and female” and he joins “male and female” to one another in marriage! He does not join male to male or female to female. Paul, the Lord’s apostle, used the marriage relationship to illustrate the relationship between Christ and his spiritual assembly. He said, “wives be subjected to your husbands as to the Lord, the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is head of the assembly, as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let wives be subject in everything to their husbands, husbands love your wives as Christ loved the assembly, for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh. The mystery is a profound one and I mean in reference to Christ and the assembly, let each one of you love his wife as himself and let the wife see that she respects her husband.” (Ephesians 5:22-33). Only one question remains, is the bride of Christ viewed in scripture as a man or woman? There is no authority for same sex marriages, none! Those who engage in such are sinning and unless they repent, according to the sacred scripture, they will give account for their wickedness (Romans 1:18-32; 1 Cor. 6:9-11; Galatians 5:19-21). ~Ron Daly |
