"And to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you. So that you may behave properly toward outsiders and not to be in any need." (1 Thessalonians 4:11–12 NAS). The beauty of this verse is seen in the command for a person to take charge of their own responsibility and provide for themselves. No one should be a beggar, a leech, or a "woe is me" person, feeling sorry for themselves. Recognize that God has told us to provide for every need we may have. No one should depend upon others to put food on the table or a roof over their heads. Everyone must learn the value of self worth and self obligation; for if the $60,000 a year job isn't available yet, take the $30,000 a year job until that higher paying one comes along. By doing so, a person will have honest money in his pockets and not be sitting at home depending on someone else to provide. And one more thing—keep away from illegal and dishonest money! (1 Timothy 6:6–10). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
The word "welcome" on a sign is not on there without qualification. For example, the sign outside a hot dog restaurant might read "all welcome," however that doesn't mean that criminals can come in and do as they please. It also doesn't mean that non criminals with bad tempers can come in and snap at the waitress or yell at other customers, etc. What it does mean is, "Come in and we will do you good." The same is true with the church; for the sign does say "welcome" and everyone is invited to come and learn what God would have them to do (Acts 9:5–6). The reason this is being said is because many visit church and get angry when they learn that they have to stop doing something. They will protest "the sign said welcome and nothing about ceasing doing this or that!" To which we must reply, "coming to the house of God is a growing and learning experience. You add things to your life and cast away others, for being welcome isn't a green light to remain in sin, after you have been shown the truth," (John 8:31–32; Luke 13:3; Ephesians 4:17–32; John 12:48; Romans 6:12–23; 2 Corinthians 7:2; 1 Corinthians 6:18; 1 Timothy 6:10; 2 Thessalonians 3:10). We cannot have it both ways; and by that I mean, kick the law of Almighty God out of our lives and expect good behavior from mankind. People fail to understand that it is the word of God that has introduced right and wrong to man (James 1:17). It's not left up to a human being to define evil and righteousness (Romans 7:7–12. This nation has drifted way too far from the word of God and is in danger of being destroyed because only righteousness will exalt a nation (Proverbs 14:34; Prov. 11:11; Psalm 33:12). For example, there is a lot of talk against the ten commandments being posted at government sites. Yet, there are trials in court houses prosecuting those who have lied, stolen, and killed. Seems to me, if we had the ten commandments posted in public places, we probably would have discouraged many from lying, stealing, and killing. People ought to be glad to see God's instructions which encourage righteous behavior. Remember, Martha Stewart went to jail for the very thing that the ten commandments would have instructed her not to do (Exodus 20:16). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Conduct of people behaving badly can be seen in back stabbing. People stab each other in the back for just about anything. They then smile in their victim's face as a comforter, knowing full well that they are the source of the pain. Imagine a murderer pretending to be concerned and helping the police and neighbors search for a body that hehid. Deplorable, but very real!! People also gossip about each other as if it were a sport. Why not just sit down and talk with the person who gets on your nerves? Why call up Aunt Sally and gossip about the person with her? Something's surely not right here! Bad behavior continues to exist by people who use profanity. Just the other night, a certain comedian had Hollywood worried that the Oscars would be tarnished with his use of profane speech. A man has reached a sorry level if he must depend upon or enjoy profane speech. No person should be using four letter words to describe a football game or tell a joke! The end result is all men will answer to God for what they do (2 Corinthians 5:10). Rather than behaving badly, men should be preparing to meet God (Matthew 24:44).
