Here are things that everyone should know about the word of the Lord.
First, it is very very old. It is so old, it goes back before the world was created (John 1:1). Which makes perfect sense because God is everlasting and His word is the same (Psalm 90:2). Second, His word will last forever, meaning it has no end. If the Lord spoke it or commanded it, time will have no effect on it (Matthew 24:35; Isaiah 55:11). So, the next time you hear someone say that the Bible isn’t good enough for today, remind them of this fact. Third, the word of the Lord will be our judge on the last day (John 12:48). Yes, the word of God starts from the beginning, runs right by us in 2009, and is waiting for us at the Judgment Day finish line! (Revelation 20:12). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. I suppose that the biggest regret of people who go to Hell will be their rejection of God (John 12:48). Satan has done an amazing job by cloaking the minds of men with unbelief, so that the saving power of the gospel cannot get though to them (Romans 1:16; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4). So the people who end up in hell, will have all of eternality to lament their choice of rejecting God (Luke 16:22-31; Revelation 14:9-11).
No one can help or rescue the lost because they died in their sins, thereby sealing their fate (John 8:21). The reality of Hell is something man must face now because after death, it will be too late. Just look at the graveyards—they are full of people who once were alive just like you and me but are now dead and their deeds do follow them (Rev. 14:13, 20:12-13). If you could talk with a lost dead person, he would tell you to obey the Lord, so you don’t end up like him (Luke 16:27-28). A dead person would also tell an atheist that there is a God and there is a hell! (Psalm 14:1; Mark 9:42-48). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. In Mark 5:18-19, we read of a man from whom Jesus had cast out a legion of demons. The interesting thing is this man wanted to follow Jesus and be one of his disciples, but the Lord told him to go home and tell his people what God had done for him. At that time, the Lord had enough men to follow him from town to town, but he didn’t have anyone to go to the area where this man was from and proclaim the greatness of God. That became the mission for this man, even though he thought his future would involve walking with the Christ.
The point for us is, we may think we should serve Christ in one way, but the Lord may have another thing in mind for us (Proverbs 19:21). But, that shouldn’t matter to us because whatever the Lord wants us to do, we should echo the words of Isaiah as he shouted out, “here am I, Lord send me!” (Isaiah 6:8). So, the Lord at this very moment is looking for some good males and some good females. Interested? Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. “He is the top preacher in America!” “He is one of the top preachers in America!” We have heard this said about men who are ministers; however what do people mean by the term, “top” preacher? Who and how is it decided, and what makes a “top” preacher? Does man invent the term, or does God decree it?
I checked the Bible, and I have not found where God ever addressed any of the Old Testament prophets as “top.” Next, I searched the New Testament concerning preachers of the gospel, and I never saw one of them addressed as a “top” preacher. So, the term exists outside of God’s authority, and if we are to be people of the Bible, we need to address things in the way that the Bible teaches us (1 Peter 4:11; 1 Corinthians 11:2; 2 John 9). If a person is addressed as a “top” preacher, such a statement is saying that one preacher is above others, and that God has a special ranking system. But God has no favorites and also teaches man not to have favorites (James 2:1-9; Acts 10:34; 1 Cor. 4:6; 2 Cor. 3:4-6, 12:6; Romans 12:3; Galatians 6:3-4). So, call a man a preacher, and not a “top” preacher, because anything else is not speaking as the Bible speaks, but rather the doctrine of man (Mark 7:6-13).
