Ungodly income is that which is made in violation of the word of God (Psalm 1:1-6; Jude 15-19; 2 Peter 2:6; 1 Pet. 5:2; 1 Timothy 3:3 Acts 16:16-19; 1 Timothy 6:5-12; Ezekiel 22:12-13; Acts 1:16-18).
In Ephesians 4:28, the Bible teaches that man is to work with his hands doing that which is good. When the scriptures speak of that which is good, it is speaking of that which looks good to God and not what man may think is good (Proverbs 12:15, 14:12; Isaiah 55:8-9). There are certain ways in which men obtain income and God doesn’t like the way it is obtained. And since God doesn’t like it, such is immoral. What God condemns, no one can criticize (Romans 9:14-23, 11:34-36; Acts 10:15). The following ways of income stand condemned in the eyes of God and have no authority to exist: bribes or fraud; working in an abortion clinic; working in a porno theater; working in a go go or topless bar; gambling or casino work; manufacturing liquor or cigarettes for pleasure consummation; selling drugs; or being a hooker or escort providing sex. I shall stop right here, but I think this is enough to get one to thinking. Does your job exist because it violates some principle taught by the Bible? If so, you are earning ungodly income. The answer is, they don’t have parents who love the Lord and teach God’s guidance in the home (Proverbs 22.6, 1:8-19, 3:1-12, 4:1-27). Many wait until their children are teenagers before trying to teach them and many don’t teach at all. Some parents don’t even know the whereabouts of their children when it’s late at night! The parents gave birth and they must take responsibility and train their sons and daughters from infancy. A person cannot bend a 100-year-old tree, but he sure can bend a young tree. So the children must be introduced to God while still in their youth (Ecclesiastes 12:1).
Much evil is out there waiting to influence the young, but parents must teach the word of God so their children will understand righteousness and avoid the wrong paths (Prov. 4:1-27). School teachers always talk about how hard it is to get parents’ involvement in teaching the students and back to school meetings, etc. The same can be said about a child wanting to go to church and his parents don’t. Remember this parents—you cannot lead if you are sitting on your sofa with a beer watching TV on Sunday. You should be taking your children to church. You cannot teach them about God if you don’t know Him yourself, and now is the time to do something about that. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Even though God created mankind, He and man will always see things differently. For example, man is always fighting over skin color and nationality, whereas God said that doesn’t matter (Acts 10:34-35; 1 Samuel 16:7). Men will not think favorably toward a church that has only a few members; but God doesn’t see it that way (Matthew 18:20, 7:14). Man thinks that if he does a portion of what God said and leaves the rest undone, that the Lord should be pleased; but God won’t be (Matt. 7:21-27; 1 Sam. 15:1-23). Man thinks he can redefine marriage with the same sex, but God who is the Creator of marriage, disagrees (Gen 2:18, 21-25; Proverbs 18:22; 1 Corinthians 7:1-4, 11:8-9; Matt. 19:4-6).
Man believes he can worship God as he pleases, but God said men must worship Him in spirit and truth (John 4:24; Romans 12:11; John 17:17). Men think they can divorce and remarry for any reason, but God said fornication is the only reason (Matt. 19:9). Man thinks it is okay to have sex outside marriage but God doesn’t (Hebrews 13:4). Man calls correction “judging,” whereas God calls the action warning a lost soul (Jude 21-23). I shall now cease to give examples because man doesn’t have a heaven to give you or a Hell to send you to. Peter said, “it is best to obey God and not men” (Acts 5:29). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Purposely being shot in the heart by your best friend. Having your mother steal your wallet. Being attacked by the person who is supposed to protect you. All these shocking actions are Betrayal.
In Matthew 26:21 Jesus said, “one of you will betray me.” These chilling words sent shock waves though the hearts of all the disciples, and pretty much ruined the rest of the dinner. If you really want to hurt someone beyond repair, just betray them. Once betrayed, a person is harder to win back then a conquered city. The lesson in all this is, don’t betray anyone. Trust is a hard thing to build up, it may take years to do so, and one evil act like betrayal can destroy it in a second. Imagine the shock on the face of the one that is betrayed; the unbelieving stare, the tears, the question: “Why? Why? I thought you were my friend?” Don’t do this evil deed to anyone! If you have people trust, keep it, don’t betray that trust! Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. It is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God; to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations are blessed whose God is the Lord.
We know that by His divine law, nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world. May we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war which now desolates the land may be a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us. It has seemed to me fit and proper that God should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November as a day of Thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens. If I can’t do anything to enhance you, (uplift you or make you better) I’m not going to do anything for you. That’s the way everyone ought to live (Philippians 2:4; 1 Corinthians 10:24, 13:5). Too many people are hurting and destroying others, and these victims brought to sorrow, inconvenience and hardship didn’t deserve it (Romans 12:17). Now I’m not referring to offenders who need to be put in their place, but to innocent people who become the victims of oppressors who have their own selfish and violent agenda (Psalms 37:14,32,35).
Make it the focus of your life to value others as you wish them to value you. And if you have issues with someone, try to sit down and talk it over in a reasonable way. If that cannot be done, forget it and walk away because that is the way it has to be at times. Tomorrow will be another day (and if the Lord wills) plan to do something to make things better for others. It is a lot easier then you think, so take up the challenge and cause it to happen, and you will go to bed feeling good. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Noah’s Ark might not had been as good looking as other boats of that era, And it might not had been as comfortable inside as other boats of that era. It might not had been as big as other boats of that era. But it was the only boat in which one could be saved from the flood (2 Peter 2:5, 1 Pet. 3:20). That was true because it was commissioned and built by God though the hands of Noah (Genesis 6:12-22).
The construction of the Ark was the mind of God at work, with each part being crafted to fit the time of Noah who would be inside the Ark for little over a year (Genesis 7-8). Other boats might have been deployed by the general population to try and escape the flood, but those boats sank and the people perished because those boats had no saving power. My point in all this is, men may have something they hold dear, but if it’s not established by God, all will be lost (Psalms 127:1; Acts 5:34-39; Matthew 15:13). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Jesus Christ is the Son of Almighty God (Matthew 14:33, 16:16, 27:54).
It is pointless to look elsewhere for salvation because He is the One whom the Old Testament scriptures foretold as the Messiah (John 1:29-30, 3:2, 6:14, 8:23-25; 1 Timothy 1:15; Acts 4:12). He and the Father are one in purpose and equal in the Godhead (John 5:18, 8:58, 10:30-39; Colossians 2:9; John 6:38, 8:29). Presently, Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father, ruling over His Kingdom (the church) and will do so until He returns to judge the world on the last day (Col. 3:1; Acts 17:31; John 12:48, 5:22; 2 Tim. 4:2). In order to die for our sins, Jesus left heaven and came to earth in a body of flesh and lived among men (John 1:1-18; Hebrews 10:5; Philippians 2:5-11). Yes, Deity living among man with all divine attributes (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6; Micah 5:2-3). Jesus was more than a man and often said so (Matt. 12:6-8, 11:3-6, 9:2-7; John 5:37-46, 8:23-24, 6:35-65). Not just a great teacher or prophet; but the One before all things! The great eternal God of heaven and earth; the Alpha and Omega! (John 20:28, 1:1, 17:5, 17:24; Col. 1:13-19; Revelation 1:5-8). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. You don’t have to pay ten or eleven dollars to see the Clint Eastwood movie, “the hereafter” in order to find out about what happens after death. If you have a Bible in your house, all you have to do is read it, and you can find out for free.
If you don’t have a Bible, contact us, and we will give you one for free. And here is something to consider, I recently watched an interview with Eastwood, and when he was asked about his personal belief in God and life after death, he wasn’t sure and seemed to struggle to explain what his view was. Instead of believing what men think about the “hereafter,” we need to turn to the pages of God’s word for answers because He is in the “hereafter” (Matthew 6:9; 2 Corinthians 5:6-8). I want you to study these verses about life after death, and contact us if you have questions (Hebrews 9:27; 2 Corinthians 5:1-10; 1 Cor. 15:12-58; Luke 16:19-31; Philippians 1:21-24; Ecclesiastes 12:7; Luke 23:46; 2 Timothy 4:1). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Halloween is here and for those who believe Ghosts haunt the earth, their belief will become more intense. But such ought not be the case—it’s just another holiday where people dress in costumes and give candy. However, man needs guidance, something to show him direction and shine light on the issues which confront him. So that is where the Bible helps, and people can better themselves by having faith in the word (Hebrews 11:6; Psalm 19:8-10; Mark 9:21-23; Psalm 119:105). The scriptures are God’s speech to man, and He teaches that the dead doesn’t spook the living (2 Timothy 3:14-17; Ecclesiastes 9:4-6:10; Job 7:1-10, 10:18-22; Psalm 103:13-16; 2 Samuel 12:22-23).
At death the spirit of man is removed from the earth and taken to Hades (the abode of the dead) to await judgment (James 2:26; Hebrews 9:27; Psalm 90:10; Luke 24:5, 22:42-43; Acts 2:29-32; Luke 16:19-31). Ignorance of what the Bible teaches has lead many to believe unscriptural things, and a highly creative imagination has cause many to think they hear and see things (Acts 17:22-27). But if one believes the word of the Lord, he will be secure (Proverbs 1:29-33; Psalm 34:10; 1 Peter 2:2-6). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. |
