According to the Bible, the first day of the week is worship time where people come together in the local church, take the communion, give into the offering, sing and pray and listen to the word of God. Acts 20.7. I Cor 16.1-4. Eph 5.19.
However, there are many things that will take people away from truth. The lure of the world and its activities. We have sports, public events of all kinds which steer people away from worshipping God. One thing we must remember is, know what we need to do and never allow anything to stop us from doing it. 1 John 2.15 The world may never change from the course on which it has been set. But that don't mean you have to let the world change you.

Jesus Christ said that he would build his church and that meant he was only going to build one. Matt 16.18. Jesus fulfill that promise by establishing his church in the city of Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. Luke 24.45-49. Acts 2.1-6:37-47. If you go back to Matthew 1618 the word church is singular, it does not mean plural, therefore all the churches that you see today cannot be what Jesus meant. Jesus prays for those believing in Him to be unified as He and the Father are. John 17.20-23.
Someone is wrong! There is no way that all these different beliefs can be right. The only way one can know is to examine what the Bible teaches. In next week's words of the week, we will give four identification marks of the true church. And that information is found in every Bible. Col 3:18-21, gives a challenge to the family; so take a few moments to read the following verses and see how your life matches up.
Verse 18, Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Verse 19, Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Verse 20, Children, obey your parents in everything: for this pleases the Lord. Verse 21, Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. How did you match up? Is there anything you need to change? Have you been doing what the bible teaches in these matters? Only you can answer these questions and they must truthfully be answered. The soul is at stake. Rom 14: 11-12. I don’t need to begin a long talk about your bank account but here is a piece of information that we all need to remember. The money in the bank can be here today and gone tomorrow. We need to reflect more upon the uncertainty of things. We may never have imagined our money being gone; but lo and behold, men steal it, or the economy eats it away like cancer. Matt 6:19-21.
Uncertainty is all around us and blows against our skin like the wind. Jas 4:14. Lk 12:13-21. While it is true that we need to save our money for the future, we need to also mediate upon what the Lord said about riches. He taught us not to make it our number one goal. Mark 9:36-37. He taught us to keep in mind that it could disappear. Jas 5:2-3. He thought us to put our main interest in things eternal. 1 Tim 6:17. Try not to panic about loss money, just do your best to preserve what you can and use this experience as a time to reflect upon your soul and where you will spend eternality. 2 Cor 5:10. Romans 14:9-12. |
