Ten Reasons to Reject the Pro-Abortion Mentality

​A tremendous movement is underway to abolish human abortion in this country now forty-six years after the Supreme Court declared it legal in its infamous Roe v. Wade decision. Arkansas and Utah have each outlawed the killer procedure in the middle of the second trimester, whereas those States previously allowed it until the third. Kentucky, Mississippi, Georgia, and Ohio have all passed better legislation, criminalizing the infanticidal act when a heartbeat can be detected. The Governor of Louisiana, a democrat, is poised to contradict his party and sign a fetal heartbeat bill, as well. Alabama, best of all, has banned murder in the womb altogether.
 
The progress gained this year against those who would murder children will be, and already is being, challenged in Federal District Courts. These challenges are likely, and are even intended, to rise to the Supreme Court to finally see the highest court in the land redress its fatal error of 1973.
 
Meanwhile, abortion proponents are panicked and abortion opponents are ecstatic. Social media is filled with debate. If the purpose is to provide good answers (Colossians 4:6), ?speaking the truth in love? (Ephesians 4:15), such debates have potential to be fruitful ventures. Following are some thoughts worth sharing on the subject.
 

1. If a girl presents at the Emergency Department, complaining she has been raped, medical staff will report the crime to the relevant authorities and obtain evidence on their behalf. If a girl presents at Planned Parenthood, complaining she has been raped, authorities will not be informed, and staff will actively destroy the evidence.
2. We now live in a society in which a person will go thousands of dollars into debt to keep an injured or diseased pet living, but will agitate for the abortion of a human child if the circumstances into which she may be born are less than ideal.
3. Imagine looking a person in the eye and telling her, "Your mother should have killed you because of what your father did. Your life is less worthy than my own because your mother suffered when you were conceived. You shouldn't be alive." That is exactly what abortion advocates imply when they demand abortion because of rape.
4. Abortion proponents imply a contradiction on the part of pro-lifers who favor the death penalty, but there is none. Indeed, we are the consistent thinkers in this matter. We believe a criminal convicted of a heinously violent crime, such as murder, has forfeited his right to life by depriving someone else of theirs. Contrarily, an unborn child has done no harm, and thus deserves no punishment. The consistently pro-life position is to protect life for the innocent and to avenge those whose lives were taken from them. Abortion advocates who oppose the death penalty turn this upside down, protecting the lives of those who have forfeited that right while depriving life from those incapable of doing wrong.
5. Abortionists say, "You're not pro-life; you're just pro-birth because you're not willing to raise that child and provide for its upbringing." But, in fact, many, possibly most, pro-lifers are willing to raise a stranger's child and provide what they can to help these needy children. Many already are doing so. Not only does this objection portray pro-lifers inaccurately and heartlessly, but it's logically unsound, as well. Must one who objects to murder, rape, kidnapping, slavery, assault, or any other act of violence assume personal responsibility for would-be victims to lay claim to consistency?
6.  When abortion proponents say, "Don't like abortion? Don't have one! There, wasn't that easy?" all they're saying is, "Don't like murder? Don't do one! There, wasn't that easy?" Obviously, it is not easy at all to tolerate intentional homicide. Violence against the innocent is unconscionable.
7. An abortion advocate cannot offer sincere condolence to a woman who has suffered miscarriage. The abortion advocate does not believe that person is a mother bereft of a child; rather that she is a patient relieved of a parasite. If the abortion proponent is ideologically consistent, that one will find no reason to offer sympathy. If the pro-abort expresses sorrow for such loss, that one is either mocking the other?s grief or revealing doubt as to their own philosophy.
8. Opposition to abortion is often characterized as men imposing their will on the bodies of women when, indeed, every abortion begins and ends with a woman forcing her will on the body of another person.
9. "Old white men" are depicted as the stereotypical enemy of those favoring abortion, yet it was nine old white men who sat the Supreme Court when Roe vs. Wade was decided, whereas abortion was recently terminated in Alabama by the stroke of a female Governor?s pen.
10.  The pro-abortion crowd overlaps largely with those who believe gender is a social-construct and a matter of self-identity. Some parents of this persuasion advocate for children to be raised gender-neutral, allowing them to identify as male or female or non-binary when they are old enough to communicate for themselves. Ironically, many of the same parents who won?t impose biological gender on their children will impose their own choice of death on unborn children.

 
Scripture presents the occupant of the womb as sentient (Luke 1:15, 44) and worthy of protection (Exodus 21:22-25). Let it be so.
