A lot of churches teach that it is sinful for people to eat certain foods. These same folks also teach that certain foods must only be eaten on certain days. For example, fish on Fridays and certain meals for so-called Holy days or holidays; and don't dare go near that piece of ham! In the Old Testament, the people of God were commanded to eat certain foods (Leviticus 11). The Bible makes this perfectly clear, however many fail to understand that the Old Testament isn't binding on men today. The Old Testament has ceased to be binding on men because Jesus ended it with his death on the cross, and since that time men have been governed by the law of Christ which is the New Testament (Hebrews 8:6–13; 2 Corinthians 3:6; Heb. 9:1–17; Heb. 10:1–18; Colossians 2:14–17; Matthew 26:26–29). The law of Christ has said that men would teach false doctrines by telling people that they cannot eat certain things which God has commanded to be received with thanksgiving. Under the New Testament you can eat anything you want, and that is anything, for all kinds of meat are good and can be eaten, providing we give thanks (1 Timothy 4:1–5; Acts 27:35). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
Some say, "I know I'm going to hell!" They are probably right, because Jesus said most will go to hell (Matthew 7:13–14). I wish every person reading this could go to heaven, but that will not be happening because of the refusal to obey God. (Matt. 7:21, Acts 10:34–35). For those who know they are going to hell, I suggest they start getting in some practice. Hell is forever and involves pain, so rather than wishing the pain of a smashed finger to go away, one should make that pain last as long as possible. Next time you get burnt, don't jerk your body away from the flame, hold your body to the fire as long as possible (Mark 9:42–48). Don't avoid the scum of the earth. I'm talking about rapists, robbers, child molesters, wife beaters, liars, Hitler types, etc. Make friends with such and hang out with them, because they will be your neighbors in hell. (1 Corinthians 6:9–10, Galatians 5:19–21, Revelation 21:7–8). Start getting used to darkness and weeping, try to cry as much as possible. Start walking down dark deserted streets at night, so you will have some experience for your entrance into hell (Matt. 13:41–42. Matt. 25:30). Don't be afraid of the Devil, he will be in hell and he won't be in charge. Satan will be burning like everyone else (Rev. 20:10). So, if one knows he is going to hell, I suggest he go into training for it, because eternity has no end. Are you sure that you know what you are saying? Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
The underlying premise of what is called "contemporary worship" is that the added sparkle, lighting, theatrics, and jazzed up singing, clapping, and hand raising will give the worshiper a greater buzz, and he will go away all excited about what he got out of it. A secondary premise is that such worship will draw more people. But this misses a fundamental principle of true worship. It is not about us! It is about Him! It is not directed to us but to the God of all the universe. It must meet His approval, not that of an audience. God "seeks men to worship him in spirit and truth" (John 4:23–24). "In the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee" (Heb. 2:12). "Singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord" (Col. 3:16). So the question is not, "What did I get out of worship?" But, "What did He get out of it? Was it done according to His will? Or did we add something He did not authorize? (By Connie Adams.) Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. A few years ago, John Travolta played an angel in the movie, "Michael." Remember that movies are just acting, and angels don't commit gluttony, drinking, smoking, fornicating, or even falling in love with women (Matthew 22:30; Mark 12:25; Revelation 21:27; Rev. 22:14–15;1 Corinthians 6:9–10; Galatians 5:19–21; 1 Peter 3:1–2). Angels are spirits—they are the messengers who stand in the presence of God because they are holy (Matt. 4:6–11; Hebrews 1:7; Luke 9:26; Psalm 104:4; Luke 24:39; Matt. 18:10; Matt. 25:31; Mark 8:38; 2 Thessalonians 1:7). Angels are active daily, carrying the dead into hades and protecting the righteous and the wicked (Luke 16:22; Psalm 34:7; Acts 12:15; Job 20:29; Matt. 5:45). Angels cannot be seen by humans unless God allows it because spirits have no flesh and blood (Numbers 22:31; 2 Kings 6:17; 1 Chronicles 21:16). No one knows what angels look like in their glory because when they appeared to people in the Bible they took the form of men. So the wings and the halo are all inventions of men, just like the devil with horns, cloven hoofs, a pointed tail, and pitch fork. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Worshipping in vain means wasting your time because God isn't pleased, and the people are going to hell (Matthew 7:22–23, Matt. 15:13–14; Isaiah 9:16; 2 Peter 2:1–2). Worshipping in vain does exist today and sadly, many don't even know it (Matt. 15:1–9; Mark 7:1–8; Acts 17:23). This is because of man's failure to do things as God has taught in His word. The Bible is here for us to obey and not to add or take from it in any way (Luke 6:26; Matt. 7:21, 1 Corinthians 11:1–2; 1 Peter 4:11; 2 John 8–11; Galatians 1:8–9). For example, the Bible teaches that Christ is the head of the church, yet men say the Pope is the head (Ephesians 5:23). The Bible teaches that men must worship God in spirit and in truth, yet men will say, "We can worship God as we please," John 4:24. The Bible teaches Jesus built only one true church, yet men will say, "Attend the church of your choice," (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 4:4). The Bible teaches that baptism is essential for salvation, yet men will say that it's alright to baptize babies or that you don't have to be baptized to be saved (Mark 16:16, 1 Peter 3:21, Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16, Gal. 3:27, 1 Cor. 12:13). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
It is totally foolish for people to argue about Jesus' skin color. It makes no difference what shade of color His skin pigment was, since the color of the skin means nothing to God (1 Samuel 16:7). Man shouldn't care what Jesus may have looked like, but we should be concerned about obeying Him (John 14:23–24). Now it is true that the body Jesus chose to have while on earth was the body of a Jew (Hebrews 10; John 4:7–9). But who can say that his skin pigment was this light or that dark? Yeah, I thought so, no one can. The same point is true concerning our Father in heaven (Ecclesiastes 5:2). Someone will say, “He is a great black God!” Another yells out, “No! He is a awesome white God!” Both are wrong! God is a spirit, and a spirit doesn't have flesh and bone and certainly has no skin color (John 4:24; Luke 24:39). In heaven, skin color doesn't exist because the physical body cannot enter into heaven (1 Corinthians 15:50–54). So, man better quit debating color and remember that this earth is God's masterpiece, and He has painted it with a diversity of colors to enhance its beauty (Genesis 1:31). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
It's too bad that our country has sanctioned trashy TV and radio programing, for these actions send a clear message that we as a nation enjoy trash. However, the child of God shouldn't be surprised because the Bible teaches that Satan's influence will be accepted more in this life than God's (Matthew 7:13-14; 1 Peter 4:18; John 3:19-21; 1 Corinthians 4:3-4). Everyone has the right to choose, so let the child of God continue to do things which please God and show the world that there are still people who live by the word of God (Matt. 4:4; 1 Timothy 4:6-16; 2 Tim. 3:14-17). One should never borrow something without thinking it over first (Luke 14:28; Proverbs 21:5). If the item is damaged, stolen, or lost; it has happened while in your possession. If a person is willing to be liable, however, borrowing won't be such a bad thing. In 2 Kings 6:1-7, we read of a fellow who lost the head off an ax that he had borrowed. This guy was very concerned and sought the help of the prophet Elisha, who helped get the ax head out of some water. That man had the right attitude for what he had borrowed. If you are a person who doesn't go to church, I ask you why? The church is the collection of the saved—the word in its original root is, “the called out,” meaning those taken from the darkness of sin and placed into the Kingdom of light (Colossians 1:13; Acts 2:47; John 10:9). Just like Noah and his family were saved from the flood by being insidethe ark, those in the church of Jesus will be saved from the damnation of Hell which is to come (Genesis 7:23; 1 Peter 3:20; Ephesians 5:23; Matthew 3:7; 1 Thessalonians 1:10; 2 Thess. 1:7–10; Mark 9:42–47). I hope to do one thing today, and that is get you to call 215-248-2026 and tell us why you don't go to church. And call also if you have been thinking about going to church. If no one is available, please leave a message, and we will get back with you as soon as possible. You may also e-mail us from our Web site as well, or you can just visit us during our worship times. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
Baptism is certainly nothing to be taken lightly, so we call attention to this vital subject. First of all, baptism isn't a matter of opinion. It is commanded (Matthew 28:19). Next we learn that baptism must be performed according to the name of the Lord (or by his authority) meaning that baptism must be done as God would have it (Acts 10:48, Colossians 3:17). Baptism requires much water because it is described as a burial or immersion, and sprinkling or pouring water isn't Bible baptism (Mark 7:7; John 3:24; Matt. 3:6, 16; Acts 8:38; Acts 10:37; Romans 6:3–4). If you want to be in Christ, you must be baptized as the Bible teaches, and Bible baptism puts a person into Christ (Galatians 3:27). A person must also be in the Lord's church in order to be saved from hell, and baptism is the final act which places a person inside the church (1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 5:23; Acts 2:47; John 10:9). Sin separates man from God, so it must be terminated, and that is the job of baptism (John 8:21; Isaiah 59:1–3). In Acts 2:38 we read that baptism is for the forgiveness (remission) of sins. Forgiveness is accomplished in baptism because baptism is the washing away of sins (Acts 22:16; Ephesians 5:25–27; Hebrews 10:22; Romans 6:1–18). If a person wants to be baptized that person must be a willing candidate—meaning the person to be baptized must believe on Christ (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:37–41; Acts 8:12; Acts 8:35–38; Acts 9:17–19; Acts 10:44–48; Acts 16:13–15; Acts 16:30–33). Therefore baptizing babies and anyone who doesn't believe is wrong. and last, but not least, baptism saves (1 Peter 3:21; Mark 16:16). This is because baptism is the final step that God has prescribed for man's walk toward salvation (Hebrews 5:9; 1 Peter 1:18–25). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. This is only for people who believe the Bible to be God's word.
In Acts 10:25–26, we read, "And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him. But Peter took him up, saying stand up, I myself also am a man." Worshiping well known religious leaders is nothing new. Centuries ago, the man Cornelius thought he was to pay such honor to Peter. But no, that wouldn't be right; for Peter said that he was a man and he shouldn't be worshipped. If a person is a man, don't fall down at his feet and bow, don't kiss his ring, nor call him by God's name for he is a man (Matthew 23:7–10; Psalm 111:9; Ephesians 4:6). No Rabbi, Father, Master, Reverend etc. The men that people fall down before, praise and idolize, will die and stand before God just like everyone else, for there is nothing special about them, they are men (Romans 14:12; 1 Corinthians 4:6). During the times of the Old Testament, the people would create an object out of stone and then worship it. That is very dumb, huh? (1 Corinthians 12:2). Not much has changed today, for people create a man and worship him as well. The right thing is to only worship the Lord God Almighty (Matthew 4:10; Revelation 22:8–9; John 4:23–24).
