People get mad with their spouses and file for divorce. This is done because the one filing the divorce thinks they have the right to do so. Pro 14.12.
Now allow me to give a thought to you.A person cannot get a divorce without consulting God. Yes, you hear me right. One must have the permission of the Lord in order to file for divorce. For example, a person cannot get married without having God present. That is true because it is God that joins a man and woman in marriage; and it is God, who warns that man must not sever what He has joined. Matt 19.6 Jesus taught that divorce is permissible if one of the spouses has committed adultery. Though it’s not commanded to divorce, the innocent party has the right to consider it. Matt 19.9. But maybe that won't happen, because the innocent person decides to forgive and give the offender another chance and that would be perfectly alright. Bottom line is, we must consult with the word of the Lord before doing anything. The Bible clearly has said that it assent in man to direct his own steps. Jer 10.23-24.

“I don’t know what God expects of me; how can I know what He wants?” This statement was made by a person who really wanted an answer.
The answer is, God has given man the bible; it is a book which contains two parts, the old testament, given to the Jewish nation and the new testament was established by the death of Christ upon the cross and it is given to all mankind. We today shall be judged by the new testament and within its pages are the plan of salvation and the church of Christ, which houses those who have obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ. Acts 2.37-47 What God wants from man, is for him to obey the message of the gospel and be baptized in water to have his sins washed away. Acts 22.16. Rom 10.8-18. At that point, a person can begin a relationship with God and keep it going till death. Roman 6.1-17. Rev 2.10. 2 Tim 4.6-8 This is what God expects and desires for everyone. God wants you to be saved from the destruction of hell. 2 Pt 3.9. 1 Thess 5.9-10. 1 Tim 2.3-4 Having a faithful devout person work for you or with you is always a plus. It is because this person believes what the word of the Lord said about honest and hard work; realizing that the heavenly Father is watching men.
“The eyes of the Lord are everywhere keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” Pro 15.3 “ Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything and do it not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor; but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Col 3.22-25 There is no need to worry about loafing, calling in sick when that isn’t the case; and other no good actions. Instead, a person working with fellow employees and trying to make the job site better is all such a worker cares about. If you meet a qualified Christian seeking employment, you need to hire him. If you aren’t interested in coming to church; may I ask you why? Surely you have a reason. I invite you to write to us at the mt airy church of Christ and give your reason for staying away from church. I ask this because there is a huge percentage of people who want nothing to do with church service.
I have an explanation as to why I believe man should come to church. I would like to briefly state it.
These are the reasons I promote church attendance and I believe that I am right; because the belief I have didn’t originate with me; it is found in scripture. I gave you book, chapter and verse. You can read it for yourselves. So, back to what I asked in the beginning. If you don’t believe that the church is necessary; how about sharing your knowledge of what you believe to be true. Until then; we shall continue our teachings on the necessity of church attendance. During the days of Jesus, a tower fell in the city of Siloam and killed 18 persons. The story no doubt made the news, because the Lord used it in His teaching about the importance of repentance.
“ Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all others who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” Luke 13.4-5 This is a good thing to consider because we are being informed daily about the tower which fell in Miami Beach and over 100 people are still missing and about a dozen dead. Like our Lord was, so are we. The sadness is shared as we feel bad about the loss of life and destruction of property. But, as Jesus said, anyone can experience some kind of tragic event. No one is immune. The question is, have you repented? Are you saved? Are you free from your sins? If not, one can perish just as well Not everyone is opposed to the teachings of the bible. Many of us believe the bible is the word of God and that its teachings are superior to any way of existence on this earth. Deut 4.8.
Take for example the “home”. God created the home, for it is of divine origin. God placed a father and a mother in the home and their common goal is to bring up their children in the fear of God. Eph 6.1-4. These children will have role models which are the parents and they will be there to love and correct the children when they need it. Heb 12.9. This godly home will not have offspring roaming the streets at night robbing and killing. Pro 1.10-16. Instead, there will be educated children existing in the fear of God and these children will encourage their teachers and not discourage them. There is too much hate toward God and His word which needs to stop. He just rescued man from the virus, so man needs to start showing respect to the Lord. And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were still watching and a cloud took Him up, out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, then behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them, and they said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” Acts 1.9-11
Every time I read this, I think of a rocket launching into space from the cape in Florida. Those launches draw great crowds to watch lift off and in the same way the return of Jesus Christ will draw crowds of humans standing in awe as He descends from the heavens. There will be no hiding places and all men will have to watch Him come down. So, get ready to be a part of the masses who will be standing, pointing and looking to the sky. Masters, treat your slaves justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven. Col 4.1
Slaves as used in the bible refers to workers, and those who hire workers are to make sure they are paid and treated well. It is never right for a worker to be mistreated. Having workers should make the boss become a better manager and working for such a one, should make workers more responsible. No employer should pay cheap wages; causing employees to labor for wages which cannot pay for the next meal. If you cannot take care of your employees as the word of God directs, it is best not to have any. The original meaning of the word “church” means those who are called out. Called out from what; you might ask? Called out from darkness or sin and replaced into another realm, that being the church. Col 1:13. Acts 2:47. John 10:9.
Before being called by the gospel of Jesus Christ, a person is in the world and is hell bound. Col 3:6-7. 1 Cor 6:9-11. That person is living in sin and is separated from the comfort of God. But, when obedience to the gospel is done that person leaves the filthy world and takes up existence in the salvation of Christ body, the church. John 3:13-21. Rom 6:1-23. 1 Thess 2:11-13. Eph 2:1-22. Heb 5:9. Being placed into the church is like being placed into the ark. Once Noah and the others entered the ark, God shut them in. They were saved from the flood because salvation was only in the ark. Gen 6:12-22. Gen 7:5-16. Gen 7:21-24. If you haven’t obeyed the gospel, you aren’t in the church. If you aren’t in the church, you aren’t saved. If you aren’t saved, you are hell bound. You must obey the word of God and save yourself from eternal destruction. 2 Thess 1:7-10. Acts 2:40-41. Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return; what is that to you? You must follow me.” John 21.21-22
Peter had just been informed about his future by the Lord. I’m sure he wasn’t pleased with what he heard, so he thought he would ask Christ about what would happen to John. However, Jesus let Peter know that he didn’t need to be concern about the future of John. Peter needed to be focus on his own life So why should you be concerned about someone else? You best be concern about yourself and where you will be spending eternality. For if you don’t have yourself in a good relationship with God, there is no way you can be of help to anyone else. |
